The American muscle car club of Australia isn't your ordinary one make car club - nor is it just group of car crazy enthusiasts that enjoy classic US road warriors. The AMCCA is a group of ordinary people who enjoy each other's company, their extraordinary cars, and most of all love getting out and about for a good time.
American Muscle Car enthusiasts, Garry McLaughlin and John Mafrici co-founders of the AMCCA realised in 2006, that whilst many people they'd met were passionate about a specific model they still admired .. (and were curious) about various magnificent driving machines frequenting annual auto events and ever popular Saturday night cruises.
Garry and John kept hearing a common quip from members of various car clubs, lamenting that they needed a little more variety when it came to appreciating cars, given many were long standing members of one make clubs and had pretty much learned all they could about their particular Marque.
So in early September 2006 Garry stood down as the president of the NSW Corvette Club and with the help of John Mafrici started the American Muscle Car Club of Australia.
Since the early days, the club has grown to have such automotive marques as Mustang, Corvette, Shelby, Cobra, Camaro, Firebird, Impala, Chrysler, Dodge, Pontiac, on the register.
The club has a rich history of community support raising much needed funds for organisations such as the State Emergency Services, The Rural Fire Brigade, and the Breast Cancer Council amounting to over $45,000.00 in donations.
The club has many different facets from Show N Shine days, Sunday breakfast drives, the famous Tuesday night BBQ's at Camden & Thirroul & the regular South Coast breakfasts where members get to enjoy good food and great conversation and catch up on all the news. The overriding theme of the club is simply social and most of all keep it relaxed and have good fun.
The club prides itself on having a diverse range of events covering almost every weekend, which gives everyone the opportunity to get their cars out and drive them. It also offers members a wide choice on which runs they can attend as an example we plan for approximately 50 or so events per year.
The club also organises some great weekends away, events such as our famous Muscle Cars on the Murray weekend, which is also attended by other clubs and results in about 50+ cars in attendance. We also host a Xmas in July weekend event, BBQ days where the club supplies all the food and the committee cook up a delicious brunch for all members to enjoy.

We are planning some barefoot bowls days, AMCCA club sponsored show 'n' shine days, and some crazy observation runs, just to name a few, for the future. All these events help to build a great club community and give our members multiple opportunities to participate, make new friends, renew old acquaintances, and most importantly use their cars as much as they want.
Our membership continues to grow to well over 120 members, as does our range of cars and models both old and new. Our forum membership continues to grow as does our social media presence via Facebook with both sites being quite active.
Our club's committee may have changed over the years, but the current committee is as dedicated as ever and is committed to ensuring that everyone is welcome and that all members have a great time at which ever events they attend.
So, if you are interested in getting up close and personal with a Shelby, going for a run with a Firebird, a Pony, cruising a RS/SS, Dodging Cobras, or experiencing the Sting of a Ray then feel free to contact our club either by phone or by completing our "contact us" page.
Alternately come along to one of monthly meetings (except December) and have a chat with the members and the committee, we guarantee you will not want to leave. You can also jump onto www.amcca.com.au have a look around or download an application form …… we'd love to have you on board.
